Protaras, the famous summer resort that slowly came into existence next to Paralimni, is actually an array of cozy restaurants, relaxing bars, and seducing tourist shops, all forming a core surrounded by hotels, apartment blocks, and luxury villas. Still, the best part of Protaras is yet to be mentioned – its idyllic coastline, a sequence of golden beaches stretching for miles along the shore.

You know how difficult it is to pick out the 4 best and describe them in words? Still, we did it for you; here are 4 paradisiacal beaches in Protaras waiting for you this summer.

Vrisi Beach

Vrisi is Protaras central beach – or, better, is a string of beach strips stretching for more than 1 mile along the seashore. It goes with an awful lot of different names – some call it “Protaras Beach,” “Flamingo Beach,” the “Beach,” “Sunrise Beach,” or even the “Golden Stay Beach.” Regardless of the name you choose, the Beach takes pride in its golden sand, shallow turquoise waters, and its gentle shoreline, which make Vrisi perfect for families with children.

The whole beach is an oblong stretch of sand, with no markers in between whatsoever and locals have their best to make it as family – friendly as possible – and they succeeded! A wooden boardwalk at the rear facilitates access to the whole beach, while numerous jetties along the shore, of pedaloes, jet skis, and all sorts of other fascinating ways to have fun in the water.

Naturally, restaurants, traditional tavernas, and fast food outlets are circling the area, offering from tasty traditional dishes to pizzas, ice-creams and burgers and chips.

Fig Tree Beach

A little to the south of Protaras main beach, after a picturesque rocky cove, you will find the “Fig Tree” Bay, which is considered one of the most stunning beaches not just in Protaras or Cyprus, but in the whole world!

Forming an elongated falcate of powder-like golden sand that is gently washed by warm, sapphire-blue waters, Fig Tree beach seems to have escaped the dreams of a seasoned sailor that seeks his ultimate refuge.

With crystal-clear shallow waters and an endless array of watersports for families that feel more energetic, the beach is simply perfect for kids to play and splash around with safety all day long. Besides, an isle at the north end of the cove shields the beach from turbulent currents and high winds so that you will find not more than a gentle, relaxing wave sound down there.

Access to the beach is more than easy and all sorts of amenities, from sun beds to lifeguards and restaurants, guarantee you and your family will have whatever you need to have a great time near the sea.

Green Bay Beach

Green Bay Beach faces the warm currents of the south, cloaked all around by trees and brushwood, and dominating the upper part of a cavernous bay on the south side of a small peninsula, dotted with a few coves.

Green Bay is for those of you who love more secluded places and need as fewer people around you as possible. Quieter from the other beaches mentioned in this article, and less crowded, but equally beautiful. Of course, options in food and water sports are bit more limited, but the landscape and the serenity of the place compensate any other shortage. The site is loved by snorkelers due to its rich seabed and transparent waters.

Konnos Bay Beach

Last and in no way least, we have the celebrated Konnos Bay, which is also one of the most favorite beaches not just in Protaras, but in Cyprus. It has also gained the fame of a particularly family friendly beach, easily accessible by road (just a 2-minute drive from both Protaras and Ayia Napa).

Nicely nestled within headlands from both sides, its great waters are constantly protected by strong currents and winds, making it a haven for small children and a peaceful paradise for their parents.

While easily accessible, Konnos is surrounded by the famous National Cape Greko Forest, along with imposing cliffs that encircle the cove. Pine trees, junipers and acacias and the panoramic views from various spots in Cape Greco add up to the warm golden sand and the blue, shallow waters.

Konnos is by far the best option for families that wish to try as many different watersports and activities as possible, from jet-skiing to snorkeling, from hiking to diving and cave exploring, Konnos has a lot to offer to children of all ages and fancies.
